Between September 2017 and January 2018, the Old Red Brick Company was contracted for demolition and earthworks of six walk up flat apartment complexes at 35 Henley Beach Road, Henley Beach South.
Our broad scope of works was to clear a site with a footprint of approximately 10,000m2 ready for redevelopment. This required us to remove over 2,000m2 of asbestos, demolish the six apartment complexes, clear all the outbuildings and then remove all the vegetation that formed a part of the site. The project had all the challenges we regularly encounter with large scale demolition sites, including environmental factors such as dust, noise, public liaison and interface.
Our scope also required us to excavate the footprints of the buildings to natural ground level and then backfill under Level 1 conditions. This was one of the largest earthmoving contracts we had performed up until that time and gave us the experience of moving vast quantities of materials across a large site.
